NEWS UNDER A ROCK
Rita: Speaking of sexy costumes—please check out EMPRESS ERIN in LOVEWHIP’s latest video“Gimme That” at www.lovewhip.net. It was shot in Jamaica Plain—some on the streets—some in their cement S&M dungeon. And keeping in character, LOVEWHIP played a birthday party for porn star RON JEREMY (who’s coming out with new adult comedy called Spunk’d). *** JamSpot is opening a second location in Wakefield in April. The new rehearsal complex is located just off of Route 95/128 at exit 42, a few minutes north of the Route 93 interchange. *** THREE DAY THRESHOLD toured Belgium and the Netherlands last month. KIER BYRNES walked onto The Seventh Seal (Het Zevende Zegel in Kluisbergen, Belgium) and there was a gigantic poster of him on the wall. After the show he took it down to bring home to his mom. *** DAN MILLEN is now booking Friday nights at Bill’s Bar and is looking to hip the joint up a little bit. If your band is interested email

with links, some history on your band, and your draw around town. *** JIM SEERY (Triple Thick) is booking bands this spring/summer at the Squealing Pig in Provincetown in addition to booking the Plough & Stars Cambridge. Contact Jim at

*** Check out local bands on CCTV’s Bandwidth TV. The shows are on the web at cctvcambridge.org. See A.K.A. C.O.D., THREE DAY THRESHOLD, JESSICA RYLAN, and a few more. *** The 30th annual WBCN Rock ’n’ Roll Rumble begins on April 6 with six nights of preliminaries (skipping Wednesday), followed by the semis on 5/18 and 5/19, and the finals on 5/25 (with special guests THE NEIGHBORHOODS!—the winners of the very first Rumble)—all at Harpers Ferry. A full list of the preliminary lineup is on page 35 of this issue. *** LENNYSOLOMON’s anti-war/anti-Bush song “Let’s Go To Mars” was number one on NEIL YOUNG’s Living with War website for over a month. *** UBIQUITOUS won the Opsercian Rompetition held at the Middle East in February. *** This past December BRIAN VIGLIONE (Dresden Dolls) worked with TRENT REZNOR and contributed some drum tracks to NINE INCH NAILS’ new album. *** In the category of strange bedfellows we find AMANDA PALMER (Dresden Dolls), who recently underwent vocal cord surgery, performing with the Boston Pops! Go see the odd coupling on June 19 and 20 at, where else, but, Symphony Hall. Lolita: Are Brian and Amanda in competition for who can come up with the most exciting news? Maybe they should be Rita and Lolita.
